Choose your cushion to match your style

Cushions hold a new place in home décor. Adaptive and diverse. They come in different patterns, sizes, textures and colours and levitate the home decor. Choosing them to match your style is of vital importance. Here are some of the factors that decide them.

Quantity:

It is one of the factors of choosing your cushion to match your style. According to many home décor experts, it is best to use odd number of them in your décor in order to be more modern in outlook. In even numbers, it is just the opposite.

Size:

Many people around the world use cushions which are 18X18 or 20X20 inches in size which are squared-sized. Many stylists feel that the same size of the cushion appears to be boring to the on-lookers. Mixing the sizes of the cushions adds depth to the home décor.

Room:

Large cushions in a small room will make the room very appear small and the big ones vice versa.

Type of Interiors:

The interior of your house decides the theme and type of cushion that you want to use. Whether it is modern, vintage, gothic or even fushion, these factors are significant in choosing them.

 Position of cushions:

Whether you want to put them on your upholstery, bed or even on your carpets. This decides the choosing of your cushions.

Cushion Covers:

They beautify the décor of your cushions and home. According to home décor experts, the size of the covers should be smaller than the cushions. It is so because these helps to maintain the flabby size of the cushions.

Fabrics:

One of the factors for choosing your cushion. Fabrics like cotton, silk, leather, synthetic and acrylic are some of the most used types. Silk fabric is strong and adaptive according to the home décor style. It is long lasting if not exposed to sunlight. This fabric is used only in high-end cushions. The extremely popular, cotton is strong and versatile in quality. But it is also very wrinkling in texture. Wool, a natural fibre is suitable for all climates and easily adapts to different room temperatures. It also takes a lot of maintenance.  Linen, also a natural fiber, comes in a variety of textures. It ages well and does not fade away from light. Leather and acrylic are also great in quality and texture and are durable in nature.

There is no blueprint that one should follow. It all comes down to your taste and creativity. At the end of the day, it’s your home and you deserve to feel blessed.

Tips on how to take care of your home during monsoon

In India, monsoon comes as a relief by beating the scorching summer. But it also brings a lot of unwanted issues for your home. Your home needs to be treated with utmost care in order to relieve these problems. Here are a few tips that may help!

Use quick dry towels during the season:

With the onset of monsoon, things are prone to catching fungus, especially things like damp towels. Use towels that are quick to dry and require less maintenance. Also, don’t forget to wash your towels regularly.

Vacuum clean your carpets at least twice a week:

Carpets collect harmful bacteria and other unwanted elements during monsoon. It’s best recommended to vacuum clean your carpets twice a week to ensure their freedom from dirt, germs and dampness.

Say no to heavy curtains:

Heavy curtains and monsoon don’t go hand in hand. Keep your home lively by using curtains, which are light in colour and texture. Sheer curtains are ideal for this season. These help to eradicate the musty smell arising due to rain and humidity. You can also use cotton curtains for their adorable looks and ventilation-friendly quality.

Lock away your fancy decorative items for a while:

In monsoon, due to the presence of humidity and moisture, it’s best to lock away all your fancy decorative belongings for a while. Use items that are less decorative and more breathable in nature, and also are quick to dry if they get wet due to the rain.

Ensure cross ventilation in your home:

During monsoon, the winds bring in a lot of humidity to your home, making the place quite uncomfortable to live in. To reduce this problem, cross-ventilate your home. This helps to cool your home and reduce air-borne diseases.

Non-slip doormat at the entrance provides safety and cleanliness

Doormats also help in providing safety and cleanliness to your home by absorbing dirt and moisture. It’s best recommended to use non-slippery doormats to prevent slipping and falling.

Build a man cave for your man

A man cave is special place where he moves around and spent his leisure time. A man cave needs to be spacious and comfortable. Make a man cave for your man to show your love and affection.

Find a comfortable chair
When you think about man cave, you always think about a place where your man spends time for leisure and enjoys great time with his mates. A chair will provide the relax feeling that your man wants.

A Hidden bookshelf door
Nowadays, secret rooms are not for castles anymore. You can make your own secret room using your imagination, materials and some simple tools.  For this, add a cool hidden bookshelf door which acts key to the secret room.

Extra Seating
If there are no extra seats, there’s no man cave. Your man will enjoy movies with his mates in a home theatre. Television forms an important part of the man cave. The ideal television suited for a man cave is a flat screen one of a large size.

Bar
Bar is an essential component of the man cave. In order to set up a bar, you need a set of bar stools, a refrigerator, glasses, mugs and drinks. Bar adds the masculine element to a man cave.

Movie Poster
No man cave is complete without a movie poster having a hunk. Adorn the wall of the man cave with the posters of movie stars, sportsmen and rock stars. These things add a masculine touch to your décor.

Pool Table
It’s an essential part of the man cave. If there is no pool table, there is no man cave. In fact, it is the pool table that adds the ‘ultimate’ cap to the man cave. When it comes to the most popular sport for a man cave, pool stands out of the rest. Your man plays with his friends and has a great time.
